When it comes to furniture, every one of us wants pieces that represent not just our taste but also our style. If you live on a farm, fortunately for you, you can instantly integrate ‘farm style living’ by merely recycling an old trough and transforming it into a handy, practical, and pretty TV stand. In recent times, there has been a continued surge of interest in this particular recycled trough (water) which we collected at the barn owned by grandpa.
This water trough initially served as a stock tank which grandpa previously used. It was bought years before he acquired automatic waters to serve his cattle. It had slowly turned rusty and unsafe for use with the cattle, so he allowed us to take it and for us, we resolved to utilize it for an entirely different purpose.
By making use of old barn wood which we glued and nailed together, we put it on the trough’s top to create a lid for it, and once we had the measurements, we used a jigsaw to cut it out.
What’s more, we also made use of truck painting which we acquired from a shop to give the trough a rustic theme-which we later bolted on the trough’s front.
After using a drill to make holes on its sides in appropriate dimensions, we utilized old ropes as the handles by merely zip-tying them on the interior.
Lastly, we finalized by drilling its bottom to create four holes on it where we could attach its feet. On drilling the holes, you can then comfortably fit the feet’s screw through and subsequently tightly bolt them.
We had a great time doing this. In our home, we have used this ‘new accessory’ in several places for diverse purposes including in the living room, and as a typical tree holder for our Christmas tree among others. Currently, however, its ideal location is a standard home TV-stand.
