Fall in Love With Your Home Tour

One of my favorite ways to create is by finding random odds and ends and challenging myself to use them in new ways. Today I’m sharing a simple repurposed industrial fall decor craft that you can re-create or customize for your home!

Like any good thrifty gal, I visit thrift shops and discount stores on an almost daily basis, looking for bits and pieces I can repurpose – ok, maybe not daily, but it sometimes feels that way 🙂 On a trip to my local restore, I found this perfectly rustic metal mesh thing that I just fell in love with. Don’t ask me why 😉

I later learned that it’s actually a rusted piece of gutter guard. Who knew??

I thought it might be neat paired with some scrap wood to create a seasonal sign, so that’s exactly what I did.

First, I painted a 1-inch thick piece of scrap wood black, to serve as a base for my sign.

Then, I printed out some text in a pretty script font and transfered it to a thinner piece of driftwood using this method.

After that, it was just a matter of layering all of the elements and securing them together.

And my “Thankful” sign was complete!

I plan to create more of these to give to family and friends around Thanksgiving. I think they’d be just great as part of a rustic industrial gallery wall, or paired with other words of gratitude on a fall mantle.

I love how easy this was to create. Let me know if you make one, too – I’d love to see it!
